A global property investment organisation sought to enhance social connections among residents and rebrand as experience-led tech influencers through a new social app. The project involves using Human Centred Design methodologies to validate the app concept, conduct user research, develop prototypes, and create a prioritised backlog and roadmap for stakeholder buy-in. The output included a comprehensive solution aligned with user needs, visual representations of the business model and value proposition, and validated design concepts, aimed at securing investment and demonstrating potential market impact.
The customer is a global Property Investment organisation and platform that aims to create environments where people can thrive. They approach property development with a data-driven and technology-focused mindset to deliver innovative products and services. The client wanted to enhance the social connections among their residents and rebrand their perception as experience-led ‘tech-influencers’.
- Validate the viability of a new social app concept and ensure that it meets the needs and expectations of their target audience.
- Build on the functionality of the social app to provide a more comprehensive and valuable experience for their residents.
- Secure investment to fund the development of the social app and bring it to market in a timely manner.
- Improve the experience of their residents, both during their stay and as alumni, by providing them with a deep connection social app that enhances their overall experience.
Our task was to provide a comprehensive suite of services to validate and deliver the products using Human Centred Design methodologies. This includes discovery activities such as user interviews and behavioural persona development, experiment-led frameworks for hypothesis testing, and validation activities such as prototype production and gathering data. The ultimate goal is to visualise opportunities, consolidate validated concepts, and prepare a prioritised backlog for stakeholder buy-in and business success.
- Conducted user interviews and observations to better understand the context and behaviours of the target audience. Engaged with stakeholders to gather valuable insights into the project.
- Ideated How Might We statements and a visual exploration to generate ideas to produce prototypes for testing. The prototypes were used to gather feedback and make informed decisions.
- Gathered data and feedback from testing the prototypes to validate the ideas and align them with business requirements.
- Created a prioritised backlog for the suggested MVP and preparation of a business and value proposition canvas to support the business case and executive summary.
We provided a thoroughly researched and designed solution that aligns with the needs and wants of the target audience. The solution is visually represented through prototypes, assets, and a business and value proposition canvas that showcases the potential impact on the market. The output provided C-suite investors with a clear understanding of the potential return on investment and the steps taken to validate the solution through human-centred design methodologies.
- A concise summary of the project goals, research findings, user testing data and design concepts, aimed at providing an overview of the project for c-suite investors.
- A visual representation of the business model, including customer segments, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, and key resources.
- A visual representation of the value proposition, including the customer's problems, needs and gains, the value proposition, and the customer's pain relievers and gain creators.
- A collection of design concepts, including wireframes and IA, that have been created and validated based on the research findings, user testing data and anecdotal findings.
